Indian boxer Ashish Kumar has won a gold medal at the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament 2019 after defeating Korea’s Kim Jinjae by unanimous verdict of 5:0 today. Ashish was competing in the 75 kg category and this is his first gold medal at an international level. Meanwhile, apart from Ashish’s gold medal, India clinched four silver medals as well. Former world junior champion Nikhat Zareen lost to China’s Chang Yuan in the final of 51 kg category event and thus had to settle for the silver medal. In 49 kg category, Deepak Bhoria lost to Uzbekistan’s Mirzakhmedov Nodirjon. Other Indian pugilists competing in the finals of the different events Hussamuddin Mohammed and Brijesh Yadav lost to Chatchai Decha Butdee in 56 kg category and Anawat Thongkratok 81 kg category respectively. Both Chatchai Decha Butdee and Anawat Thongkratok are from Thailand.
