The video appears to be shot inside the stadium when Himanta Biswa, who was attending the match, was shown on the giant screen at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium. Reportedly, one of the spectators also waved a black flag as a mark of protest against the CAA. The flag was eventually taken away by the police.
Earlier, ahead of the match, fearing anti-CAA protests, the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) had banned fans from bringing posters inside the stadium. Sketch pens and markers were also banned. The anti-CAA protest have been going on in Assam after the bill was approved on December 04. The protests turned violent at some places as well. Earlier, there were some reports that the series opener between India, and Sri Lanka could be shifted to another city. However, ACA confirmed that the reports were baseless.
Ahead of the match Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli refused to comment on CAA saying it would be irresponsible as he is not fully aware of it. Kohli, however, did term Guwahati city safe and said he didn't see any problems on the roads.
