Wrestling, as a sport, in India is a huge craze amongst Indian public. For a long time, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has been a sole source of wrestling entertainment for the fans in India. Other wrestling companies tried their level best to eat a chunk of that share, but have not been able to compete with WWE on that front.

With time, several other companies have tried to harp on Indian-based wrestlers in order to lure the audience in India. However, no major wrestler, other than Jinder Mahal has got recognition as much as he did last year. With Jinder Mahal's recent run as WWE Champion in the company, the Vince McMahon owned company tried to cash on his Indian-origin, and to an extent succeeded too. As WWE managed to cash-in on Jinder Mahal's success, other pro-wrestling companies are trying to replicate the same.

Mahal’s stint at WWE has helped other Indian wrestlers gain recognition worldwide. In a recent development, Gadowar Singh Sahota, also known as Gama Singh has signed up with ‘Impact Wrestling’.

Gama Singh will be leading other Indian wrestlers and form a tag-team and make their debut at the US-based pro-wrestling company. The faction or the group that will appear in the June’s tapings will be known as ‘Desi Hit Squad’. Other Indian wrestlers that are reported to join forces with Gama Singh are Rohit Raju, Bhupinder Singh, Gurinder Singh, and Vikas Kumar.

With a WWE Live Tour in Noida, India, last year, the wrestling federation is also looking forward to spreading its wing in the country. Other notable Indian stars who have featured in WWE are The Singh Brothers, Kavita Devi, The Singh Brothers, and Tiger Ali Singh.

With different global wrestling promotions taking cognizance of the fact that India houses a large wrestling fan base, times are going to be exciting for the fans ahead. With WWE, Impact Wrestling and other federations focusing on India, it will also bring in a lot of opportunities for Indian wrestlers too.
