In a harrowing encounter in US’ Wisconsin, a 12-year-old boy, Owen Beierman, saved his father, Ryan Beierman, from a bear attack during a hunting trip near Siren on September 6. While tracking a bear they had wounded earlier, the animal charged at Ryan, pinning him down. Despite firing eight shots with his pistol, Ryan missed and began fighting the bear with his hands. As the bear bit Ryan's arm and forehead, Owen grabbed his rifle and fatally shot the bear, ending the attack. "Owen was a hero. He shot that bear and killed it on top of me," Ryan said. Ryan was taken to the hospital, where he received 23 stitches for injuries to his face, arm, and leg.
