Highly trained detectives from the NYPD's emergency service unit (ESU) showcased their bravery in a recent rooftop rescue in Manhattan. NYPD shared bodycam footage on X that captured the tense moments as they saved a "distraught" woman, aged 33, on the edge of a 54-story building on East 29th Street last Wednesday, May 1. Reportedly, responding to a distress call, ESU members executed a rope operation to reach the woman, who appeared ready to jump. Despite being separated by a glass divider, officers skillfully manoeuvred to her aid, with one even tethered to a rope, leaping over the barrier to assist. The heart-stopping rescue ended with the woman safely hoisted above the wall and reassured by her rescuers. The woman was later transported to Bellevue Hospital for evaluation and treatment. Sharing the video in a post on X NYPD, wrote, "When the public needs help, they call the police.
