Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello stated that the detained individuals were planning an attack on Maduro’s government, accusing the US of involvement. In response, a State Department spokesperson denied any US participation, calling the claims "categorically false." The spokesperson also confirmed that one US military member was among those detained and mentioned unconfirmed reports of two more US citizens being held in Venezuela.
