A man in US’ Minnesota, Nicolae Miu, 54, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for murdering a high school student and stabbing four others on the Apple River in St. Croix County, Wisconsin, in July 2022 after they allegedly claimed that he was ‘looking for little girls’. Miu will also serve six years of extended supervision. Convicted of first-degree reckless homicide and other charges, Miu claimed self-defense, stating he felt threatened while searching for a lost cellphone. The attack killed 17-year-old Isaac Schuman and seriously injured four others. St. Croix County Judge R. Michael Waterman emphasised the survivors' severe injuries and Miu's poor decisions under provocation. Prosecutors had sought a 70-year term.
