The United States performed a high-explosive experiment at a nuclear test facility in Nevada only hours after Russia revoked a prohibition on nuclear-weapons testing, which Moscow said would put it on par with the United States. According to Bloomberg, the test on Wednesday, October 18, employed chemicals and radioisotopes to "validate new predictive explosion models" that potentially assist in identifying atomic bombs in other countries.  The timing of the test is noteworthy.
