California governor Gavin Newsom signed a bill thereby making it into law on Monday, September 30, that will allow "Amsterdam-style" cannabis cafes starting next year. The new bill will allow businesses to sell non-cannabis food and drinks and sell tickets to concerts and other performances. Assemblymember Matt Hanley (D-San Francisco) said that AB 1775 would allow cannabis retailers to diversify their business and move away from the struggling and limited dispensary model by selling non-cannabis-infused foods. The bill will come into effect on January 1; however, local jurisdictions must also approve and license the new type of business. US: Evacuations Ordered Near Atlanta After Sprinkler Malfunction Sparks Major Fire at Chemical Plant in Georgia (Watch Videos).
