The massive park fire in Northern California has burned over 178,000 acres and destroyed nearly 134 structures. The fire, which erupted on Friday morning, July 26, has also forced more than 4,000 people to evacuate in the foothills west of Chico. The California Fire Department confirmed the incident, saying that the park fire is continuing to spread due to strong winds and hot and dry weather. Meanwhile, California Governor Gavin Newsom on Friday declared a state of emergency in Butte and Tehama counties in response to the Park Fire. Officials said the fire was sparked after a man pushed a flaming car down a gully. Wildfires Prompt California Evacuations as Crews Battle Oregon and Idaho Fires Stoked by Lightning.
