A beachfront house in North Carolina’s Outer Banks collapsed into the Atlantic Ocean due to the impacts of Hurricane Ernesto on August 16. The property, located at 23214 Corbina Drive in Rodanthe, was purchased by its owners in 2018 for USD 339,000 and was built in 1973. The two-story, four-bedroom home succumbed to the severe beach erosion and high waves caused by the hurricane. Cape Hatteras officials warned of dangerous conditions, including life-threatening rip currents and ocean overwash. The collapse was captured on video and shared on social media, showing the home's pillars snapping simultaneously as it floated away.
