According to reports, the Temple University acting President JoAnne Epps died after collapsing on stage during a memorial service at its Philadelphia campus on Tuesday. Epps was brought to Temple University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at about 3.15 pm, according to a statement from the institution. She was 72 years old. During a press conference, University's senior vice president Ken Kaiser stated that the institution was unaware that Epps was suffering from any health issues. During the conference, Provost Gregory Mandel praised Epps as one of the "most remarkably compassionate and caring individuals I've ever known."
