In addition to the hijab ban, the participation of children in Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, two major Islamic festivals, has also been banned in the country. The law banning "alien garments" like hijab and children's participation in Eid celebrations was cleared by the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) on June 19. The Majlisi Namoyandagon, lower chamber of the Tajik parliament, had approved the legislation on May 8.
