In a daring rescue operation, three men were reportedly plucked to safety on Wednesday after sharks allegedly tore chunks from their inflatable catamaran when the sailors attempted to sail to Australia. According to a report in AFP, the sailors included two Russians and a French citizen. The trio were picked up by a cargo ship while floating in the shark-filled Coral Sea some 800 kilometres (490 miles) southeast of Cairns. Speaking about the incident, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority said, "Both hulls of the vessel have been damaged following several shark attacks."
