Iranian security forces have arrested more than 260 people, including three European nationals, at a “satanism” promoting gathering west of the capital Tehran, according to the semi-official news agency Tasnim. The raid follows a nationwide crackdown against women accused of violating Iran’s strict Islamic dress code. Tasnim reported that the “Satanist network” in Tehran has been broken up, leading to the arrests of these individuals including women who were found in “obscene” condition. The report stated that 146 men and 115 women were arrested during the operation. Items seized at the scene included alcohol, which is banned under Iran’s Islamic laws, and psychedelic drugs. Photographs published alongside the report showed masks, what appeared to be model skulls, and T-shirts with skulls on them. The nationality of the three European nationals who were arrested has not been disclosed.
