A quick conversation between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi was observed on the fringes of the 15th BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) leaders' news conference on Thursday. PM Modi and President Xi were seen chatting briefly before the session got underway. Notably, in November 2022, during the G20 dinner in Bali, which was hosted by Indonesian President Joko Widodo, PM Modi happened to meet Xi. During the G20 dinner, the two presidents shook hands. Notably, this was the first handshake since the April 2020 standoff in eastern Ladakh between the Indian soldiers and the People's Liberation Army of China.
