Videos of two distinct flames raging across South Williamsburg and Brownsville, New York City's two residential districts on Sunday, have appeared on social media, according to the New York Post.
The Brownsville fire, according to FDNY Commissioner Laura Kavanagh, began on the 11th level of a 14-story Livonia Avenue structure at 11 a.m. After breaking down the door, the three kids—ages 4, 5, and 8—were discovered by the responding firefighters inside the building, all by themselves and unconscious. At least 10 firemen were hurt while battling another five-alarm fire that started on Lee Avenue in Williamsburg. According to authorities, the blaze appeared to begin in a chocolate shop before spreading to at least nine neighbouring retail establishments, seriously destroying them and spewing smoke into the air. New York City Fire Videos
I want to commend our Firefighters and EMS members. They come through every day, but today was an incredibly busy one. There were two intense fires that could have been deadly. The first was at 383 Livonia where FFs rescued 3 children. The other was a 5-alarm at 106 Lee Ave. pic.twitter.com/l9g2niy7Pi
