Three Just Stop Oil activists threw tomato soup at two Van Gogh “Sunflowers” paintings in the UK on Friday. The attack occurred hours after two other climate activists were sentenced for a similar act in 2022. One painting, part of a London gallery, had been targeted before, while the other was on loan from Philadelphia for an exhibition. The National Gallery confirmed the artworks were unharmed, though the activists were arrested. The protest followed the sentencing of Phoebe Plummer (23) and Anna Holland (22), found guilty of damaging a painting’s frame last year. Plummer received a two-year sentence, and Holland 20 months, after causing USD 13,000 in damages. Just Stop Oil Protesters Spray Orange Paint Inside Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5 (Watch Video).
