Russia-Ukraine Crisis: Ukrainian Civilian Killed in Frontline Shelling in Eastern Ukraine

Despite its repeated assurances that it doesn't plan to invade Ukraine — a country it invaded in 2014, when it illegally annexed Crimea, Russia has done little to reassure people in Ukraine and beyond that it respects its neighbor's sovereignty.

Amid rising tensions between Russia and Ukraine, reports suggest that a Ukrainian civilian was killed as a result of frontline shelling in eastern Ukraine. Earlier, Russia’s military said on Monday that troops and border guards had prevented a “diversionary reconnaissance” group from breaching Russia’s border from Ukrainian territory and that five people had been killed which was denied by Ukraine.
