New York, September 11: In a tragic incident, a 3-year-old girl died in the back seat of a car as her mother was found passed out drunk in the front in California, US. The toddler allegedly died of sunstroke amid scorching heat in California. The woman has been arrested and faces charges of involuntary manslaughter and felony child neglect following the tragic death of her 3-year-old daughter.

As per the NBC Los Angeles report, the incident occurred on Friday afternoon when both Hernandez and her daughter were found unresponsive in a Ford Expedition parked on the 1300 block of Fashion Lane, with outside temperatures soaring to 104 degrees.  A family member discovered the child and attempted emergency aid before first responders arrived. Both the mother and daughter were transported to a nearby hospital, where the young girl, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Hernandez received medical treatment before being booked into the Anaheim Police Department Detention Facility. Authorities noted the presence of empty alcohol containers inside the vehicle. A relative, identified as Hernandez’s great-aunt, revealed that Hernandez had locked herself and her daughter in the car. She also mentioned that Hernandez has a 5-year-old child who was at school during the incident. The family believed Hernandez was on her way to pick up the older child and was unaware that she and the toddler had remained in the vehicle. Anaheim police have stated that they do not suspect the incident to be a murder-suicide attempt. A probe has been launched into the incident.
