According to the Global Peace Index 2023, Iceland has once again emerged as the most peaceful country in the world. Iceland has managed to maintain its top ranking since 2008. In the list of the Top 10 most peaceful countries in the world, Iceland stands at 1st rank followed by Denmark at 2nd, Ireland at 3rd and New Zealand and Austria at 4th and 5th position. On the other hand, Singapore is ranked 6th, Portugal 7th, Slovenia 8th, Japan 9th and Switzerland 10th in the list of most peaceful countries in the world. It must be noted that India's position on the Global Peace Index is 126 out of 163. As per the Global Peace Index 2023, with an overall score of 2.31, India falls below the global average of 2.314. India Slips 5 Places to 141 on Global Peace Index 2019; Iceland Tops the Chart Again.
