The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), in a report released on Monday, September 9, said that Americans lost USD 5.6 billion in cryptocurrency fraud scams last year. The FBI report also showed a 45 per cent jump in losses from 2022. As per the report, the federal law enforcement agency of the United States received nearly 70,000 complaints in 2023 from victims of financial fraud involving bitcoin, ether, and other cryptocurrencies.
