Australia experienced its hottest winter on record in 2023, with daily average temperatures 1.53C higher than the long-term average. The 2023 winter broke the previous record of 1.46C above average established in 1996, according to Bureau of Meteorology statistics released on Friday. Since 2012, each winter has been warmer above the 30-year average determined between 1961 and 1990.
