Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal unveiled India's first crowd-supported weather infrastructure - weatherunion.com, the largest on-ground network of weather stations installed across India. Deepinder Goyal said it would be freely available in 45 large cities, but the company would also expand to other cities. Zomato CEO said that the Zomato-developed weather stations will offer localised, real-time information on critical parameters such as "temperature, humidity, wind speed, rainfall, etc." He said that the rich data provided by Weather Union could unlock weather uses for enterprises and research institutes. Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal added, "At Zomato, it was crucial for us to have access to precise and real-time weather information to make the right business decisions to serve our customers better. Hence, we took it upon ourselves to develop a solution capable of empowering us on this front." The Zomato Weather Union will be accessible for free using API. Deepinder added that such real-time weather data could boost India's productivity. Currently, there are 650+ Zomato weather stations in the country.
