Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has suspended shipments to China-based firm Sophgo after a TSMC chip was reportedly discovered on Huawei's AI processor, the Ascend 910B. Huawei is said to be restricted from buying the technology to protect US national security. As per a report of Reuters, Ascend 910B from Huawei has a TSMC chip, which was discovered by TechInsights. TSMC has informed both US and Taiwanese authorities about the situation, which has led to the start of an investigation. The US Commerce Department has acknowledged that there may have been some violations of export control regulations. In response, TSMC clarified that it has not provided any products to Huawei since 2020, following the implementation of US export restrictions.
