The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has warned the public about scams involving fake calls or messages claiming to be from TRAI. “Beware of fraud in the name of TRAI" is the message shared by TRAI in a post on October 23, 2024. These fraudulent communications often involve verification requests, threats of mobile disconnection, or reporting unlawful activities of mobile numbers. TRAI has clarified that it never sends messages or makes calls for such purposes. TRAI advised that if you receive any suspicious messages or calls claiming to be from TRAI, it may be a scam. These cases can be reported to the National Cyber Crime reporting portal at "https://www.cybercrime.gov.in" or by calling the Cyber Crime helpline at "1930" for further assistance.
