The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) today, May 11, said that the Sun emitted two strong solar flares on Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11. The US Space Agency said solar flares peaked at 9:23 p.m. EDT on May 10 and 7:44 a.m. EDT on May 11. NASA further said that its Solar Dynamics Observatory captured images of the events classified as X5.8 and X1.5-class flares. As per NASA, two strong explosions on the Sun resulted in the release of strong solar flares. Sharing the stunning photos of the solar flares, NASA said that solar flares are powerful bursts of radiation. "Harmful radiation from a flare cannot pass through Earth’s atmosphere to physically affect humans on the ground," the tweet read. The US Space Agency further said that when the solar flares are intense, they can disturb the atmosphere in the layer where GPS and communications signals travel. Northern Lights to be Visible Tonight?
