NASA shared a post on September 30, 2024, announcing the successful arrival of Crew 9 at the International Space Station (ISS). The Expedition 72 crew stationed aboard the ISS warmly welcomed the Crew 9 astronauts. Crew 9 astronauts include NASA Astronaut Nick Hague, who is the mission commander, and cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov, the mission specialist. The two arrived aboard SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft and will spend the next five months conducting research at ISS and maintenance on the orbiting lab. The SpaceX Crew 9 mission also has a key task ahead. In February 2025, they will return NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore back to Earth after their extended stay at ISS.
