S Somanth, Indian Space Research Organisation's (ISRO) chairman, in an interview on the National Space Day, August 23, said the Indian space agency aims to send astronauts to the Moon by 2040. He added that ISRO has been working on the technology required to send and bring back astronauts from the Moon safely, build an Indian Space Station and develop powerful rockets capable of carrying at least 100 tones of weight. He further highlighted the significance of the success of Chandrayaan 3, which created history by making India the first country to successfully land on the South Pole on Moon on August 23, 2023.
