A ransomware attack on C-Edge Technologies has temporarily shut down payment systems across nearly 300 small Indian banks. Customers are currently unable to access payment services, including ATM withdrawals and UPI transactions. C-Edge Technologies, a key provider of banking technology systems, reported the attack, leading to the isolation of their systems from NPCI-operated retail payment systems. Despite the disruption, other banking services remain operational. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) confirmed the incident in a statement, noting, "C-Edge Technologies has been possibly impacted by a ransomware attack affecting a few of their systems." The NPCI assured that restoration efforts are underway on a war footing, with a comprehensive security review in progress.
