Pakistan government banned X app ahead of national elections, still some users accessed Elon Musk's social app using VPNs. Now, the government is planning to whitelist the virtual private networks in the country to enforce its ban.

The Pakistan government banned X on February 17 for several reasons, among which the rigged controversy about the February 8 election was the primary cause. Elon Musk's X platform was banned ahead of the national elections, and the government of Pakistan is further planning to continue banning the app. After the ban, the usage of the app reportedly dropped by 70% in the country. Some Pakistani users use VPNs (virtual private networks) to access the X app. According to a post by X Daily News (@xDaily), government officials still use the app for official communications.
