Google has announced its new fibre optic route to connect Africa with Australia and Asia Pacific directly. The company said that Google Umoja adds to its commitment to support Africa's digital transformation by connecting more people across the continent. With this new investment, Google aims to accelerate economic growth across the continent. Google Umoja cable, anchored in Kenya, will pass through Uganda, Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and the Google Cloud region.
