DoT Uses AI To Disconnect Over 2.5 Crore Fraudulent Mobile Connections, Block 2.29 Lakh Handsets and Register FIRs Against Offenders
Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that leveraging AI technology, the Department of Telecommunication (DoT) successfully disconnected over 2.5 crore fraudulent mobile connections, blocked 2.29 lakh handsets and also registered FIRs against thousands of offenders.
According to telecom minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, the Department of Telecommunication (DoT) announced that it leveraged artificial intelligence or AI technology to detect and disconnect over 2.5 crore fraudulent mobile connections. The government-run department said it further blocked around 2.29 lakh handsets and black-listed 71,000 sellers. DoT said that it took legal action against 1,900 offenders with the help of Telecom Service Providers (TSPs).
