DoT and Telcos blocked nearly seven crore spoof calls and disconnected 1.77 crore fraud mobile numbers to improve security.
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) India shared a post on November 10, 2024. The post revealed efforts to curb telecom fraud and improve mobile security across the country. DoT, along with all the Telcos, have successfully blocked 1.35 crore spoof calls per day. It is close to seven crore calls blocked by the software in the last five days. They also disconnected 1.77 crore mobile numbers linked to financial fraud or cybercrime activities and traced around 14-15 lakh stolen mobile phones.
