The Indian government released the first draft of the Telecommunication Act 2023 in Lok Sabha on December 18, 2023. Now, DoT India (Department of Telecommunication) announced that the first rules of The Telecom Act 2023, 'Digital Bharat Nidhi,' were not in effect. Through this step, the department said it was going towards "Aatmanirbhar telecom ecosystem". Digital Bharat Nidhi is a new initiative taken by the government of India towards enhancing telecom connectivity across the rural and undeserved areas of the country. The step would ensure that these areas are connected and become a part of India and its mission to become a telecommunication leader. Recently, the government strengthened the telecom sector by introducing 4G and now going towards 5G through its BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited).
