In the inaugural match of the World Wrestling Championships 2023 (53kg) in Belgrade on Wednesday, Indian wrestler Antim Panghal defeated the defending World Champion Dominique Parrish. The two-time U20 champion emerged victorious with a scoreline of 3-2 to advance to the Round of 16. After resisting continuous attack from the American, Antim Pangal started to play solid defence and thwarted two similar attempts, not giving up another point until the first period's end. Panghal continued to play great defence and prevented Dominique Parrish from making any offensive moves, which caused the American to run out of time. Pangal took her time and utilised the correct opportunity to take down Parrish and seal the victory. After Vinesh Phogat withdrew due to an injury requiring surgery, Panghal will represent India at the Asian Games. Indian Athletes at Asian Games 2023 Full List: Check India’s Contingent for Asiad in Hangzhou
