WFI Suspended by United World Wrestling Due to Failure in Conducting Elections

The wrestling governing body had earlier stated that the WFI could be suspended if the federation's elections were mot held within a 45-day deadline. This moves means that Indian wrestlers would now have to compete under a neutral flag.

In a massive blow to Indian wrestling, the Wrestling Federation of India has been suspended indefinitely by United World Wrestling, the governing body after the federation could not hold its elections. The WFI elections have repeatedly been postponed and after this move by the wrestling governing body, Indian athletes would have to compete in world events under UWW flags.
