Rohit Sharma Named India’s New Test Captain As BCCI Announces Squads for Sri Lanka Series
The ODI and T20I skipper thus takes over from Kohli as Test captain after the latter relinquished the role back in January following India's defeat to South Africa. Jasprit Bumrah was picked as vice-captain for both Tests and T20Is. This would the beginning of a new era in India's Test captain as Rohit would aim to carry on from where Kohli left.
Rohit Sharma was named India's new Test captain as the BCCI announced squads for the upcoming Test and T20I series against Sri Lanka. As was announced Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant have been rested for the T20Is against Sri Lanka. Also, Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara have been dropped from the Test squad.
