Taylor Fritz was involved in an argument with the chair umpire after the latter stopped a rally between him and Brandon Nakashima during a first-round match at the Cincinnati Open 2024. This happened during the second set of the match when the ball had appeared to land outside the line but the players kept playing on and their rally intensified. It was when the umpire asked for the rally to be stopped and Fritz walked over to him, expressing his thoughts on the decision. The umpire stated that Fritz should have stopped after the ball landed out but the player argued that there was an electronic line calling system in place and that he did need not stop the point. The umpire later called for a replay of the point at 30 all and Fritz walked up to him and said, "It's actually ridiculous."
