He broke the national record and finished with 7666 points. This is the first medal in Decathlon for India since 1974. China's Sun Qihao beat Tejwasin to the gold, despite the India beating him in the last event of 1500m race. Tejaswin lead the Decathlon event after first day but lost his lead eventually.
