The 26-year-old para-athlete produced yet another special performance at the grandest stage to bag the gold medal in the Men's Javelin Throw F64 event. This was India's third gold medal and second won in the day (September 2) after Nitesh Kumar's gold medal in para-badminton. It was a 14th medal for India overall at Paris Paralympics 2024.

Not just the gold medal but he did it yet again by shattering the Paralympic Games record with a throw of 70.59m. Sumit Antil thus retained his title which he won in Tokyo and clinched India's third gold medal at Paris Paralympics 2024. Interestingly, he had set the Paralympic Games record with a throw of 68.55m, which he broke with his very first throw (69.11m). Sumit Antil then went on to better it with an effort of 70.59m, which came in his second attempt. His third attempt was on 66.66m which was followed by a foul. A 69.04m and 66.57m came in his fifth and sixth attempts respectively. India's Sandeep and Sandip Sanjay Sargar finished fourth and seventh respectively.
