It was a double delight for India in the Men's High Jump T63 event at the Paris Paralympics 2024 with Sharad Kumar winning the silver medal and Mariyappan Thangavelu taking silver by jumping 1.88m and 1.85m respectively. It was a spectacular effort from the Indian duo in the event, as they finished second and third respectively. Sharad Kumar however, not only won silver but also broke the Paralympic Games record of 1.88m, which was later shattered by gold medal winner Ezra Frech of the USA. Shailesh Kumar, the other Indian competing in this event, finished in fourth place. With these two medals, India now have won 18 medals at the Paris Paralympics 2024. The nation's best-ever medal haul was at the Tokyo Paralympics when the para-athletes won 19 medals.
