After wins in Doha and Lausanne, the 25-year-old settled for a second place in Zurich with a roaring comeback after a slow start. The newly-crowned world champion seemed to have a day off as he registered two fouls in his second and third attempts after a 80.79m throw in his first attempt.
Neeraj Chopra came up with a valiant effort and finished second in the men's javelin throw event with an 85.71m throw at the Zurich Diamond League 2023. The reigning Olympic and world champion had an uncharacteristically slow start with two fouls in his first three attempts. But he champion made a massive comeback with his fourth throw, which went for a distance of a massive 85.22m. He along with Jakub Vadlejch and Julian Weber qualified for the sixth attempt courtesy of being in the top three and the Indian star athlete registered an 85.71m throw in his final attempt, which was 15 cm short of first place.
