Neeraj Chopra finished in second place at the Lausanne Diamond League with an effort of 89.49m. The Indian star looked far from his best, having started off with a throw of 82.10m. He then went on to register throws of 83.21m, 83.13m and 82.34m in his second, third and fourth attempts, respectively. However, Chopra showed his resilience with his fifth effort as he sent the javelin flying for a distance of 85.58m, which sent him to the third spot. Chopra's best effort was his sixth and last (89.49m), which again went agonisingly close to the 90m mark. It was a season's best effort for the Paris Olympics 2024 silver medallist. Grenada's Anderson Peters, who won a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics, won the competition with an effort of 90.61m. His effort was a meet record. Germany's Julian Weber finished in third place with an effort of 87.08m.
