Manika Batra was knocked out of the Paris Olympics 2024 after suffering a defeat to Japan's Miu Hirano in the women's singles table tennis round of 16 matches. Batra lost 1-4 to the Japanese despite putting up a spirited effort. The Indian paddler lost the first game and the second one, where she had obtained an early lead at one stage. She, however, was impressive in the third game and, after a tough contest, won the same. The Japanese paddler however bounced back in the fourth and fifth games to win the match and enter the quarterfinals. Manika earlier had made history as the first Indian table tennis player to enter the round of 16 at the Paris Olympics 2024.
