R Praggnanandhaa fails to make it past the finishing line as Magnus Carlsen holds his fort in the tie-breaker and wins the final of the FIDE World Cup 2023 adding the title into his rich list of accolades. It is the first World Cup title for Carlsen and with it the Norwegian has now won every major individual classical tournament.  18-year-old Praggnanadhaa, despite losing the final, had a stellar tournament.
