After the Imane Khelif-Angela Carini boxing match controversy, the International Olympic Committee has released a press release along with the Paris 2024 boxing committee as a defence to it. With Imane Khelif's name not mentioned in the press release, the statement mentioned that the athletes have taken part in the women's category and there is misinformation being spread about it and their eligibility has not been a part of the debate. The IOC came under a controversy when Angela Carini refused to fight against her opponent Imane Khelif at the Paris Olympics 2024 women's welterweight round of 16 match. It was believed that Khelif along with another boxer Lin Yu-Ting had failed a gender test ahead of 2023 boxing world championships. Italy PM Giorgia Meloni Criticises Paris Olympics 2024 After Angela Carini Pulls Out of Women's 66 Kg Boxing Bout Against Algeria's Imane Khelif, Says 'I Know You Won't Give Up…' (See Post and Video).
