India U21 men's hockey team won the bronze medal at the Sultan of Johor Cup 2024 with a penalty shootout win over New Zealand. The scoreline at the end of regulation time was 2-2 with Dilraj Singh and Manmeet Singh being India's goal-scorers. India had a 2-0 lead in this game before New Zealand bounced back and led the contest to a penalty shootout. In the penalty shootout, India scored off the first, third and fourth attempts while New Zealand missed their third, fourth and fifth attempts. This was a second consecutive bronze medal for PR Sreejesh's side at the Sultan of Johor Cup, after winning gold in 2022.
