Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi expressed anger at the camera after waiting long enough to enter the field. In the 40th minute of the match, a Montreal defender fouled Messi who went down holding his knee. He was quickly assessed by the medical staff and was taken out of play momentarily. After getting ready to enter the field, Messi was stopped from entering immediately as new MLS rules forced an injured player to the sideline for two minutes. Messi was eager to get back and help his side the Argentine captain expressed his frustration saying, "These types of rules...it's going bad," Inter Miami eventually went on to win the match at Saputo Stadium.
