Despite Spain featuring footballers shining at the senior international level, Uzbekistan did enough to give them a good fight although perished in the end.

Euro 2024 champions Spain start their Paris Olympics 2024 campaign with a victory. Spain edged past the challenge of Uzbekistan by a narrow margin of 2-1 in their opening game. The game started on very even terms with both teams measuring out the strength of each other. Spain opened the scoring after Marc Pubill managed to put one through into the nets. The game opened up in the second half with Uzbekistan showing urgency and they equalised through a penalty which Eldor Shomurodov made no mistake to convert.
